Single Parent Scholarship

Leading The Ladies of Southwest Florida is committed to empowering education and what a better way to do this than by building a stronger community for the future!

We offer an education based Scholarship Program allowing for the honoree to have more freedom to learn while lifting some of the financial obligation.  At Leading The Ladies, we believe in a diverse offering of choices when it comes to career fields – perhaps some you haven’t even thought of yet – and we hope that you embark on your educational journey with support for Single Parents!

The local scholarship program awards tuition assistance to Single Parents in Collier County who are seeking an Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at a regionally accredited college or university.

Candidate eligibility requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a program of study at an accredited college or university
  • Resident of Collier County
  • Demonstrated need for financial assistance
  • Good academic standing
  • Single Parent
  • Previous recipients may apply

Our main focus is to help Single Parents, we are open to reviewing all applications.  Applications are due annually.

How to request scholarships?  Please contact your financial advisory in your college or university.  They may use our “Contact Us” page to make the request.

Leading The Ladies of Southwest Florida raises funds for scholarships by presenting monthly speaker lunches, scheduled events, and through donations from our commUNITY. If you are interested in supporting this effort, contributions may be made through checks payable to Leading The Ladies of Southwest Florida designated for local scholarships, and mailed to Leading The Ladies of Southwest Florida, 220 Industrial Boulevard, Naples, FL 34104 attention Alicia Farman, Leading The Ladies of Southwest Florida  or email [email protected].

    (1) What are your educational goals?
    (2) How will winning this scholarship help you attain your goals?
    (3) Write about a time when "hard work" paid off.
    (4) Describe your experience with community service and volunteering and how that has affected you and your outlook.

    Your personal statement will be judged on its content not your writing style. Please focus on the substance of your answer. And remember the words of Thomas Jefferson who said, "The most valuable of all talents is that of never using two words when one will do." Good luck!
